Periodontitis, commonly known as pyorrhoea, is a disease that destroys the supporting structures of the teeth and, if untreated, can lead to tooth loss. It occurs when bacterial plaque accumulates in the groove between the tooth and gum, creating a periodontal pocket where bacteria thrive. Its primary cause is poor oral hygiene.
In its early stages, it manifests as gum inflammation and bleeding. In more advanced stages, it causes bone and ligament destruction and gum recession, making teeth appear longer. In the most severe cases, teeth become increasingly unstable and eventually fall out.
At Freesmile, we offer patients the option of implantology and the application of the Toronto Bridge. We completely sanitise the mouth, eliminate the infection, remove compromised teeth, and restore periodontal pockets to a physiological level. We then assess the quantity and quality of the bone to ensure good osseointegration of the implants. The Toronto Bridge, through the All-on-4® technique, compensates for bone loss by positioning the implants at an angle. In severe cases, bone reconstruction techniques can also be used.
To increase the success rate of implants, we perform the procedure in a dedicated room following strict German hygiene and sterilisation protocols. With this approach, our implants have a success rate exceeding 99%.
