Precise Tooth Reconstruction for Function and Natural Aesthetics
Do you have old amalgam fillings that need to be replaced, or a cavity that has weakened the structure of your tooth?
A Dental Inlay may be an appropriate solution to rebuild the tooth in a stable way, protect the remaining tooth structure and improve the natural appearance of your smile.
At the FreeSmile Dental Centre, located in the Prati district of Rome, we create Ceramic Inlays using digital technologies and a careful clinical approach, with the aim of achieving a functional, natural-looking and long-lasting restoration.

A Dental Inlay is a restorative dental technique used when part of a tooth has been lost or weakened due to Cavities, large old fillings or minor trauma.
The inlay is placed into the prepared cavity of the tooth and helps restore:
- the Shape of the tooth
- the Chewing Function
- the Stability of the remaining tooth structure
- a Natural Aesthetic Appearance, especially in molars and premolars
When clinically indicated, compared with old amalgam fillings, a Ceramic Inlay may offer:
- High Biocompatibility
- Good Mechanical Resistance
- Protection of the remaining Tooth Structure
- A more natural appearance than metal restorations
- Better long-term stability than many traditional fillings
How Is a Dental Inlay Made?
- Tooth Preparation The damaged part of the tooth is removed and the tooth is prepared to receive the inlay.
- Impression or Digital ScanAn impression or digital scan of the tooth is taken to design a custom-made restoration.
- Fabrication and BondingThe inlay, usually made of Dental Ceramic, is fabricated and then bonded to the prepared tooth using adhesive techniques.
Benefits of a Ceramic Inlay: The main benefits include:
- Highly Biocompatible material
- Good protection of the remaining Tooth Structure
- More natural aesthetics compared with metal restorations
- Stability and resistance over time
- In selected cases, fabrication with CEREC Technology in a single appointment
Things to Consider
- A Ceramic Inlay may cost more than a simple composite or amalgam filling. For this reason, it is important to assess each case individually and decide whether this is the most appropriate solution for the patient’s clinical situation.
At FreeSmile Rome – Prati, a Ceramic Inlay with Written Warranty costs €247.00
