It occurs when bacterial plaque accumulates in the groove between the tooth and gum, creating a periodontal pocket where bacteria thrive. Its primary cause is poor oral hygiene.<\/p>\n
In its early stages, it manifests as gum inflammation and bleeding. In more advanced stages, it causes bone and ligament destruction and gum recession, making teeth appear longer. In the most severe cases, teeth become increasingly unstable and eventually fall out.<\/p>\n
